The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) provincial chief, Maulana Attaur Rehman, has asserted that the recently held elections in Pakistan were marred by rigging and that the mandate of the people was stolen. In a press conference held in Peshawar, Rehman expressed his concerns, stating that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province was handed over to individuals directly involved on May 9. Rehman also criticized the nomination of a particular individual for the KP Chief Minister position, implying that the individual’s character was questionable. This statement reflects the JUI-F’s disapproval of the election results and their belief that the process was not transparent.
The JUI-F’s stance on the elections is shared by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as both parties have voiced their concerns about the electoral process. In a separate media appearance in Islamabad, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah, accompanied by a PTI delegation, declared that the country would not experience economic and political stability due to these elections. Hamdullah further stated that both parties agreed that the election was rigged and could not be considered transparent. He made it clear that his party had rejected the poll results.
The JUI-F and PTI’s shared concerns about the elections highlight the deep-seated mistrust in the electoral process and the potential impact on Pakistan’s political stability. The parties’ statements also underscore the need for electoral reforms and a more transparent and fair electoral system in the country.
