The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has declared its intention to stage a sit-in on the national highway in Jamshoro, Sindh, alleging rigging in the general elections. The sit-in, set to begin at 11 am today, will see supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional and Hur Force of GDA gathering at the designated protest site.
Key figures, including Pir Pagara, Dr Safdar Abbasi, Ayaz Latif Palejo, and Zulfiqar Mirza, are scheduled to address the protesters during the demonstration. To facilitate the event, motorway police have advised travelers from interior Sindh to Karachi to explore alternative routes.

This development follows a series of protests against alleged election rigging by religio-political parties and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in recent days. Additionally, nationalist parties in various parts of Balochistan have been actively demonstrating against perceived “rigging” in elections over the past nine days.
The decision by the GDA to stage a sit-in underscores the persisting concerns and tensions surrounding the electoral process in the region. Multiple political parties are expressing dissatisfaction and mobilizing their supporters to vocalize grievances related to the electoral conduct.
As the political landscape remains dynamic, these protests serve as a manifestation of the broader discontentment and ongoing scrutiny of the electoral system. The sit-in is poised to contribute to the larger discourse on electoral transparency and fairness, shedding light on the complexities and challenges inherent in the democratic processes of the region.
