Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong jointly inaugurated the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Corner at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) library during the visit of Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong to Islamabad.
During the inauguration, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong underscored the special significance China places on its relationship with Pakistan in its foreign policy. He described the ties between the two nations as that of “iron brothers” and trusted friends, emphasizing the deep-rooted and enduring nature of the relationship. Weidong reiterated China’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with Pakistan and acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent support on core issues for China.
The Chinese Vice Foreign Minister expressed China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and commitment to fostering cooperation to facilitate Pakistan’s economic development, progress, and prosperity. He recognized Pakistan as a vital partner and reiterated China’s dedication to contributing to the well-being of the Pakistani people.
In response, Foreign Secretary Qazi extended a warm welcome to Vice Foreign Minister Weidong and highlighted the robust and enduring nature of the friendship between Pakistan and China. He emphasized the comprehensive support that this friendship enjoys at political, institutional, and public levels in Pakistan.
Foreign Secretary Qazi underscored the importance of the bilateral friendship for regional peace and stability, expressing Pakistan’s readiness to further expand and strengthen cooperation across all areas.
