Election Commission of Pakistan Initiates Postal Ballot Process for General Elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has initiated the distribution of postal ballot papers ahead of the upcoming general elections, as announced by the electoral body. Eligible individuals are expected to complete the voting process through postal ballots by January 22, with the option to download the application form from the ECP’s website.

Upon receiving the postal ballot, voters are required to send their votes to the District Returning Officer (DRO) within the specified timeframe. General elections in Pakistan are scheduled for February 8, and the ECP is actively working to ensure comprehensive preparations and arrangements nationwide.

Elections

In efforts to maintain strict security measures for the polls, the ECP has issued a “Code of Conduct for Security Personnel,” emphasizing impartiality and neutrality. The directive applies to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) responsible for security during the printing and transportation of ballot papers and polling materials. Security personnel are reminded to abide by the law and fulfill their duties under the relevant constitutional and legal provisions.

The ECP’s protocol highlights the importance of LEAs remaining impartial and neutral throughout the election process, refraining from favoring or opposing any political party or candidate.

Ensuring a peaceful and transparent polling process, the ECP has cautioned security personnel against obstructing voters from casting their votes. The electoral body is committed to conducting free, fair, and secure elections, and these measures aim to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
