SANGHAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has pledged a comprehensive overhaul by abolishing 17 ministries, aiming to save over Rs 300 billion for the people of Pakistan.
Addressing a public gathering in Sanghar, Bilawal asserted that the upcoming 2024 elections would witness tough competition between political parties. He expressed confidence in PPP’s victory, citing the unavailability of PML-N’s manifesto and lack of preparation for the impending polls.
Bilawal outlined key promises, emphasizing the PPP’s commitment to education. He pledged to ensure schooling for all girls and boys of school-going age, implementing Article 25-A of the Constitution. The plan includes providing quality primary schools within a 30-minute travel time and quality middle/secondary schools within 60 minutes travel time in all communities. Additionally, Bilawal announced a stipend for school-going children in rural and low-income urban areas.
Addressing environmental concerns, Bilawal unveiled plans to construct at least 3 million climate-resilient homes. He also emphasized granting legal titles of property to women heads of households and the regularization of katchi-abadis (informal settlements), ensuring inhabitants gain ownership rights.
As the 2024 elections draw near, political parties in Pakistan are intensifying public gatherings and rallies. PPP and PML-N emerge as major contenders, with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf opting to contest as independent candidates after losing their election symbol ‘bat.’
