PTI Reveals Candidates for Peshawar Assembly in February Elections

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced its candidates for 13 Provincial Assembly seats in Peshawar for the upcoming elections on February 8th.

The lineup includes Mahmood Jan for PK-72, Ali Zaman Advocate for PK-73, Arbab Jahandad for PK-74, Malik Shahab for PK-75, Samiuddin for PK-76, Sher Ali Afridi for PK-77, Arbab Asim for PK-78, Taimur Saleem Jhagra for PK-79, Hamidul Haque for PK-80, Noreen Arif for PK-81, Kamran Bangash for PK-82, Meena Khan Afridi for PK-83, and Fazal Elahi for PK-84.

Former district nazim Arbab Asim is making a political comeback, seeking to win PK-78. Additionally, former finance minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra has received the PTI ticket for PK-79.

The Election Commission has already sent a list of electoral symbols to the returning officers (ROs) for 145 political parties, with symbols allocated to major parties such as PPPP (arrow), PML-N (tiger), PTI-Nazriyati (batsman), PTI-Parliamentarians (turban), IPP (eagle), MQM-P (kite), JUI-F (book), BNP-Mengal (axe), Jamaat-i-Islami (scale), and Pakistan Muslim League (tractor). Notably, PTI symbols were not initially included in the list.

Five Opposition Parties In Sindh Agree On Seat Adjustments For Upcoming Elections

Meanwhile, five political parties have reached a consensus on seat adjustments for national and provincial assembly seats in Sindh. According to sources, Bashir Memon of PML-N is set to contest against PPP’s Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman from NA-216 (Matiari), while Asghar Shah from PML-N will contest from NA-205 (Naushehro Feroze-I).

JUI’s Allama Rashid Soomro is poised to challenge Bilawal Bhutto in the National Assembly constituency from Larkana. JUI candidates will also participate in the elections for PS-18 in Ghotki district, as well as seats in Kashmore and Shikarpur. PML-N candidates, on the other hand, are slated to contest from PS-5 and PS-6 in Kashmore and PS-9 in Shikarpur.

Sources indicate that allied parties are likely to support PML-N candidates in Karachi’s NA-229, NA-230, and NA-231. Irfanullah Marwat of GDA is expected to receive support from all allied parties at PS-105.
