Strategic Living: The Practical Advantages and Application Steps for UAE Residence Visa

Residence Visa

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) offers foreign skilled workers the opportunity to reside in the country through a residence visa, unlocking a range of benefits and facilities. Two primary visa options are available for skilled laborers: the standard work visa, valid for two or three years, and the five-year Green visa designed for work.

The standard work visa is commonly issued to individuals employed by either mainland companies or free zone entities. However, it’s noteworthy that the employer is responsible for initiating the application process for the standard residence visa. To apply, the prospective resident must furnish a color photograph with a white background, a passport copy valid for at least six months, and an attested university degree if applicable.

For those recruited from outside the UAE, an entry permit is initially issued, providing a two-month window for the worker to arrive. Within this period, the employer must complete the necessary procedures for the employee’s work visa. Subsequent steps include a medical fitness test and the provision of biometric data (fingerprint and eye scan) for the Emirates ID.

Upon completion of these requirements, the worker submits the relevant documents and medical test results to apply for a residence visa. The benefits of holding a UAE residence visa are manifold, including the ability to open a bank account, access financial services, utilize government health facilities and insurance, enroll children in both government and private schools, work and invest, and enjoy visa-free travel to specific destinations.

Upon securing the residence visa and Emirates ID, the worker gains the option to apply for family visas, extending the benefits to their dependents. This comprehensive system underscores the UAE’s commitment to attracting skilled talent and providing a supportive environment for both professional and personal pursuits.
