In a tragic incident following a terrorist raid on the Rask police headquarters, 11 Iranian police officers were martyred, as reported by Alireza Rahmati, the provincial deputy chief for security and police affairs. Rahmati denounced the attack as a “cowardly and blindly terrorist attack,” emphasizing the brutality of the assailants. Conflicting reports suggest that the number of martyrs could be as high as 12, with 7 others injured.
The terrorist group responsible for the assault, Jaish al-Adl, claimed responsibility for the heinous act. The police, in response, released the names and photos of the martyred officers. According to Seyyed Majid Mir-Ahmadi, the chief of the Interior Ministry department for security and police affairs, the attack occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday. Mir-Ahmadi revealed that the terrorists strategically blocked routes to the police station, hindering the arrival of backup forces.
Despite the loss, authorities managed to capture one of the terrorists alive, while two were killed on the scene, and the remaining attackers fled. Shockingly, the terrorists took the bodies of some of their comrades with them. Mir Ahmadi disclosed that efforts are underway to surround the region and apprehend the fugitive terrorists. A police team, led by the national deputy police chief, has been dispatched to Rask for a thorough investigation.
Expressing national grief, Judiciary Chief Mohseni Ejeie offered condolences and pledged that the culprits behind this cowardly act would be brought to justice. National Prosecutor General Mohammad Movahedi echoed this sentiment, directing Sistan-Balouchestan’s prosecutor general to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the terrorist attack and take stringent actions against those responsible. The nation remains in mourning as efforts intensify to address this tragic loss and bring the perpetrators to justice.
