ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) determined that the contempt case proceedings against PTI Chief Imran Khan and former party leader Fawad Chaudhry will occur on December 13 at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Both politicians are currently in custody, and the decision to conduct the proceedings at the jail is in response to security concerns, as cited by the ECP
Both Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry face charges of contempt of the ECP, and the ECP has now reserved its judgment on the matter. The decision to hear the case inside the jail is based on security concerns, as stated by the ECP bench.
This ruling adds another legal challenge for Imran Khan, who is already facing a trial within the confines of a jail for the alleged leaking of a diplomatic cipher. The contempt case against Khan and Chaudhry stems from accusations they made against the chief election commissioner and other officials during political rallies.
