PML-N Chief Organiser, Maryam Nawaz, responded to PTI founder Imran Khan’s accusation that her father, Nawaz Sharif, was responsible for the violence on May 9.
Maryam Nawaz took a swipe at Imran Khan, suggesting that if Khan’s claims were true, it implied that PTI leaders and workers were taking instructions from Nawaz Sharif on that day.
Imran Khan, in his first interaction with reporters since his arrest on August 5, asserted that the May 9 violence was part of the “London plan.” He urged a review of CCTV footage to identify who led the events at the Lahore Corp Commander House.
Refuting Imran Khan’s claims, Maryam Nawaz pointed out the inconsistency in his statements. She noted that previously, Khan asserted that the May 9 attacks were carried out by his workers, and now he is attributing them to Nawaz Sharif.
Violent clashes erupted across Pakistan after the arrest of the former prime minister on May 9. Protests took place in various cities, and PTI workers expressed their agitation.
The situation led to calls for the deployment of armed forces in Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad to maintain law and order. Notably, Army installations and the Corps Commanderโs house in Lahore were targeted during the PTI workers’ protest.
