ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to host a series of visits by senior US officials, signaling an ongoing dialogue between the two nations. Confirming the visits, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that these exchanges are part of continuous consultations on various matters between Pakistan and the United States.
Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, Julieta Valls Noyes, is scheduled to visit Pakistan from December 4 to 6. Following this, Special Representative for Afghanistan, Thomas West, will visit Islamabad from December 7 to 9, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Pakistan, Elizabeth Horst, is expected to arrive for a visit from December 9 to 12.
While these engagements are integral to the ongoing negotiations on issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, the spokesperson emphasized that the discussions are not exclusively focused on Afghanistan-related matters.
The US State Department outlined the purpose of Julieta Valls Noyes’ visit, indicating her meetings with senior government officials, non-governmental entities, and international organizations.
The primary agenda is to discuss shared efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable individuals and expediting the safe and efficient relocation and resettlement of Afghan refugees in the US immigration pipeline.
