ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has once again hinted at significant news regarding foreign investments in the country, stating that substantial announcements may be made in the coming week. During an event in Islamabad, Kakar mentioned that investments are expected not only from the region but also from overseas.
He emphasized the government’s focus on privatizing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), considering it a top priority. Kakar highlighted changes in investment policies through the Special Investment Facilitation Council and noted efforts to reduce government expenses.
Additionally, Kakar outlined the government’s commitment to developing skills among the country’s population. He disclosed that a project is underway to train one million nurses over the next decade.
Moreover, the caretaker Prime Minister praised the independence of the media in Pakistan, describing it as a crucial tool for promoting societal values.
Islamabad High Court Sets Hearing for Imran Khan’s Request in Toshakhana Case
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court is set to hear Imran Khan’s appeal in the Toshakhana case on Friday.
Imran Khan’s legal team filed a petition requesting an urgent hearing, and the IHC subsequently scheduled it with objections. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will preside over the case.
The former prime minister stated that he had requested the court to withdraw his appeal filed in 2022, but the matter remains pending.
Although the decision in the case was reserved on September 13, more than two months and 10 days have passed without an announcement, according to the petition.
The Election Commission of Pakistan announced a decision against Imran Khan on October 21, 2022. After initially filing an appeal, the PTI chief submitted a request to withdraw his appeal to the IHC against the decision on January 18.
