Former Speaker Asad Qaiser expressed on Friday that issuing a notification declaring Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister might be a preferable option over holding elections. Qaiser made these comments while speaking to reporters after being transferred to DHQ Hospital in Charsadda due to throat and chest pain.
The leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emphasized the need for free and fair elections in the country, asserting that the current political atmosphere would not be conducive to widely accepted election results. Qaiser claimed that Nawaz Sharif was orchestrating actions against the PTI, and instead of going through the electoral process, he suggested simply notifying Nawaz Sharif as the Prime Minister.
Following his medical examination, Qaiser was taken to the anti-terrorism court in Charsadda. His arrest occurred outside Swabi jail after the regional bench of the Peshawar High Court had granted him bail in a corruption case.
Islamabad High Court Sets Hearing for Imran Khan’s Request in Toshakhana Case
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court is set to hear Imran Khan’s appeal in the Toshakhana case on Friday.
Imran Khan’s legal team filed a petition requesting an urgent hearing, and the IHC subsequently scheduled it with objections. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will preside over the case.

The former prime minister stated that he had requested the court to withdraw his appeal filed in 2022, but the matter remains pending.
Although the decision in the case was reserved on September 13, more than two months and 10 days have passed without an announcement, according to the petition.
The Election Commission of Pakistan announced a decision against Imran Khan on October 21, 2022. After initially filing an appeal, the PTI chief submitted a request to withdraw his appeal to the IHC against the decision on January 18.
