People’s Response on Feb 8: Bilawal Bhutto Predicts a Surprise for Planners

Surprise for Planners

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari declared that the people would surprise the “planners” on February 8, the election day, as a response to their suffering under the “selected” government. Addressing party supporters in Tharparkar, Sindh, on Monday, he emphasized that the people would not accept any conspiracy and would give a strong response on February 8 to those devising plans behind closed doors.

In Sindh’s Thar, a predominantly Hindu area, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited a day after the Diwali celebrations within the community. The province has historically been a stronghold and a significant vote bank for the PPP. With elections scheduled for next year, the Supreme Court has directed the government and the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure a smooth electoral process.

Taking a dig at political parties, the scion of the Bhutto dynasty asserted that the people would have several options, including “Tehreek-e-Inteshar” and “Mehngai League.” Addressing the crowd, he stated, “If you stand united, we will ensure the victory of the People’s Party.”

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed confidence that, similar to former President Zardari’s efforts, a PPP worker (jiyala) could become the prime minister and head the foreign ministry. He pledged to end the old politics of hatred and division.

Farmers and Labourers to Receive Double Salary and Cards in New Initiative

Bilawal pledged to introduce a ‘haari card’ and ‘mazoor card,’ akin to the PPP’s establishment of the Benazir Income Support Programme, which provided a welfare card to assist needy families with their essential needs. Additionally, he committed to doubling salaries within five years.

Bilawal elaborated that the farmers’ card would directly facilitate access to fertilizers and seeds, benefiting the agricultural community. For laborers, the party would use the cards to provide support in healthcare and education.

Emphasizing the significance of this groundbreaking initiative to aid the marginalized segment, Bilawal reiterated the party’s commitment to contest the election independently, without any alliances or external support.

no Rivals in Election Contest

During his address, the PPP chief asserted that his party faced no rivals except for the formidable challenges of poverty, unemployment, and inflation.

“I cannot identify any party as our rival. As the grandson of Quaid-e-Awam and the son of Benazir Bhutto, my adversaries are poverty, unemployment, and inflation,” he declared.

Bilawal emphasized that the party’s enduring slogan would continue to be ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ (bread, clothing, and shelter) until poverty and unemployment were eradicated in the country.

He further stated, “This commitment is an integral part of our manifesto. If you ask me about PPP’s manifesto for the 2024 election, I would say Tharparkar is the manifesto of PPP.” Bilawal highlighted that the Thar Block I project would generate employment opportunities similar to the Thar Block II initiative.
