PML-N Open to Dialogue with PTI, Excluding ‘May 9 Gang,’ Says Sanaullah

May 9 Gang

On Thursday, Rana Sanaullah, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed openness to engage in dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). However, he specified that talks would not occur with those implicated in the May 9 riots.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Sanaullah highlighted the corruption case against Farah Gogi, a close associate of former first lady Bushra Bibi. He emphasized the ongoing legal procedure to bring her back from abroad, shedding light on the efforts of investigative agencies.

Meanwhile, providing clarity on the party’s leadership hierarchy, Sanaullah stated that Shehbaz Sharif serves as the president, while Nawaz Sharif holds the supreme leadership position within the PML-N.

Discussing the upcoming elections in South Punjab, Sanaullah noted the emergence of strong contenders in all constituencies, making the party’s decision challenging due to the quality of candidates.

The former interior minister hinted at a potential meeting between Nawaz Sharif and PML-Q’s Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in the near future. Commenting on PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s influence, Sanaullah acknowledged Zardari’s right to shape the path for a prime minister from Larkana.

Moreover, Sanaullah asserted that PML-N would accept the election results, irrespective of the candidate’s origin, as long as the people voted for that individual.

In addition, he expressed amicable relations with former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, emphasizing ongoing cooperation with the party. Overall, Sanaullah’s statements reflect a complex political landscape with an openness to dialogue while maintaining firm stances on specific issues and concerns.
