Ceasefire Call
The House formally censured Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American lawmaker in Congress, on Tuesday due to her rhetoric regarding the Israel-Hamas war. A total of 22 Democrats, along with Republicans, voted for the censure.
This demonstrates growing discontent among pro-Israel Democrats regarding her remarks, especially her defense of the slogan “from the river to the sea.”

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib stated, “I am the only Palestinian American serving in Congress, and my perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced, and I will not allow anyone to distort my words. I’m from Detroit, where I learned to speak truth to power, even if my voice shakes.”
US Firmly Rejects the Re-occupation of Gaza
The United States has openly expressed its opposition to a prolonged Israeli occupation of Gaza, as reported while the Israeli military disclosed its forces were now operating deep within Gaza City, approximately one month after the commencement of Hamas’s attacks on October 7.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Hezbollah in Lebanon, an Iran-backed group similar to Hamas. In a televised statement marking one month of the conflict, Netanyahu cautioned Hezbollah against joining the war, referring to it as a potentially grave mistake.
Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, underscored the country’s unwavering commitment to “destroy Hamas,” and noted that Israeli forces were now positioned in the heart of Gaza City, which he described as the largest terrorist stronghold ever established.
Furthermore, Netanyahu insisted on the release of over 240 hostages held by Palestinian militants as a prerequisite for fuel delivery to Gaza and any potential ceasefire in Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas. These developments highlight the complex and ongoing nature of the conflict in the region. Overall, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Sole Palestinian-American Voice, faced formal censure by the House for her ceasefire call on the Israel-Hamas war.
