The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party made an announcement on Tuesday regarding the appointment of Shah Muhammad Shah as the Vice President.
In a separate development, Bashir Memon, the former Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), was named as the President of PML-N in Sindh.
The party issued an official statement confirming these appointments.
“In the exercise of the powers vested in the President PML-N under Article 13(b) of the party’s Constitution, the President PML-N is pleased to designate Mr. Bashir Memon as the Provincial President of Pakistan Muslim League-N Sindh with immediate effect,” read a statement released by the PML-N.
Earlier, after joining the party, Memon was appointed as the convenor of the Sindh reception committee, which was formed to welcome PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif on October 21.
On September 29 of this year, the former government official became a member of the PML-N.
Previously, Memon was appointed as the chairperson of the 12-member committee of PML-N Sindh, which was established by the party’s senior vice president, Maryam Nawaz, to welcome Nawaz Sharif back to the country next month.
Memom faced allegations related to aiding a suspect wanted for financial crimes in another country and failing to investigate the individual’s money laundering claims. However, in April of last year, the Sessions Court acquitted the former FIA chief of these charges.
Pakistan Confirms Participation in OIC Summit on Gaza Called by Saudi Arabia
Meanwhile, Pakistan has confirmed its participation in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on Gaza, which has been called by Saudi Arabia.
The special representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and the Pakistan diaspora in Middle Eastern and Islamic Countries, Tahir Ashrafi, emphasized the importance of not turning such matters into a point-scoring exercise.
The OIC summit, scheduled for November 12 in Riyadh, will address the escalating military situation in the occupied territory and discuss the brutal aggression against the Palestinian people. The summit is expected to be attended by leaders from various Islamic countries, with the Iranian president already confirming his participation.
This gathering of Islamic leaders comes more than a month after Israeli forces began their attacks on Gaza in response to an operation by Hamas on October 7. The ongoing Israeli military offensive has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with a considerable portion being children.
Tahir Ashrafi and his counterpart Kakar in Islamabad strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and called on the international community to urgently intervene to halt Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian population. They welcomed the upcoming OIC meeting in Jeddah to address the deteriorating situation in Palestine.
