Not My Leaders
ISAMABAD: PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi restated that Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are not his leaders, on Tuesday.
In an interview with a private news channel, the former prime minister cautioned that if Maryam Nawaz were to manage the party’s affairs, it could result in the separation of individuals like himself.
In addition, Abbasi emphasized that his leader is Nawaz Sharif, not Shehbaz Sharif or Maryam Nawaz. When asked about participating in welcoming Nawaz Sharif, Abbasi mentioned that he was not informed about the reception.
Regarding Nawaz Sharif’s bail, Abbasi remarked that a person labeled a “convicted absconder” cannot secure bail without surrendering to the court first.
Also, he expressed his disinclination to participate in elections under the current circumstances, firmly stating his decision not to engage in the upcoming elections.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s reaffirmation of his loyalty to Nawaz Sharif over Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz underscores the divisions within the PML-N. However, his reluctance to participate in welcoming Nawaz Sharif and disinterest in upcoming elections highlight the ongoing challenges facing the party.
