Islamabad Nahi jaon Gi; Mehwish Hayat dismay over Concert in Capital amid Covid

Amid the third wave of COVID-19, the actor expresses concern for the public for attending a three-day event.

Last week the government confirmed the third wave of coronavirus in Pakistan. Educational institutions of all grades in seven cities of Punjab, as well as in Peshawar and Islamabad, will be closed for two weeks from Monday, keeping in view the resurgence of Covid-19 cases.

Radio Pakistan reported that the cities include Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Gujrat, Sialkot, Multan, and Rawalpindi. However, despite the rising cases, a three-day culinary and musical event titled Islamabad Taste was organized in Islamabad. The event saw performances from aspiring musicians and noted celebrities.

But Mehwish Hayat recently took to Twitter and expressed her displeasure over the event.

“This is very disappointing! To be having live concerts with so many people while we are still not free of Covid…. Cases are on the rise again and we are experiencing a deadly third wave. Let’s please act responsibly.”

The Punjab Nahi Jaungi star tweeted.

On Saturday, authorities in Punjab imposed new restrictions in the province to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and announced that all commercial activities will close at 6 pm every day till the restrictions stay in effect.

All business centers will close at 6 pm and not be permitted to operate on weekends. The policy of 50% work-from-home for both public and private offices has also been enforced. These restrictions will stay in effect till March 29.

This week, it was reported that Pakistan’s COVID tally crossed the 600,000 mark with 2,701 fresh cases. There are a total of 566,492 recoveries from the disease, while the numbers of deaths total 13,377.
