The United States urged the Indian government to cooperate with Canadian authorities over the murder of a Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Sikh leader Nijjar was shot dead in Canada in June this year.
A senior official from the State Department said that US authorities have maintained close communication with their Canadian counterparts.
Both sides coordinated regarding allegations of the Indian government’s involvement in the assassination of a Sikh leader in Canada. The official further emphasized that they have encouraged India to actively cooperate with the investigation.
“We have maintained close contact with our Canadian colleagues concerning this matter. We are deeply concerned about these allegations. We believe it is crucial for there to be a thorough and transparent investigation. We urge the Indian Government to collaborate fully in this investigation,” the official stated during a news briefing with reporters.
On Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revealed the Indian government’s involvement in murder of Sikh leader in Canada. This shocking disclosure strained the two countries ties and also exposed India’s nefarious designs.
The situation has also begun to impact trade relations between two countries. Both are discussing suspension of trade agreement.
In a tit-for-tat response, both countries expelled a diplomat, with Canada expelling India’s top intelligence officer. New Delhi reciprocating by giving a Canadian diplomat a five-day notice to leave India.

Meanwhile, The Canadian and the US officials worked with collaboration to ascertain the connection of Indian government’s involvement in murder of a Sikh leader in Canada.
A senior Canadian government official disclosed that Canada and the United States had a very close collaboration in investigating intelligence that suggested potential involvement of Indian operatives in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia earlier this year.
Furthermore, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi stated that Canada’s allegations of India’s involvement in the killing of a Sikh leader was not surprise for Pakistan. He said that India had engaged in sabotage activities in Pakistan for decades.
Qazi addressed the media at Pakistan’s mission to the United Nations and asserted that if Canada’s prime minister accused India of being involved in Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s assassination, the claim could not be baseless.
He further noted that this statement was unsurprising, considering India’s history of attempting to destabilize Pakistan. Qazi also pointed out that Pakistan currently held a serving officer from the Indian navy in custody on charges of espionage and sabotage.
Qazi emphasized that if any country in the world understood India well, it was Pakistan.
