RAWALPINDI: Rescue officials reported a tragic collision between a van and a truck in the vicinity of Rawalpindi’s T-chowk area on Tuesday. This harrowing incident resulted in at least five casualties, while six other individuals sustained injuries.
Swiftly responding to the distress call, rescue personnel rushed to the scene. They found the injured victims in dire need of medical attention and promptly transported them to a nearby hospital.
The gravity of the situation was palpable as the injured fought for their survival while the lifeless bodies of the victims lay still, a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of the collision.
As determined by authorities, the collision’s root cause was excessive speed. It serves as a somber reminder of the critical importance of obeying traffic laws and exercising caution on the road.

Among the injured, authorities identified four women and two men, their lives hanging in the balance. Tragically, the deceased included four men and one woman, leaving their families plunged into unimaginable grief as they grapple with the sudden and irreplaceable loss of their loved ones. This Rawalpindi tragedy left everyone in grief.

Govt to provide relief to power consumers: Minister
Meanwhile, Caretaker Power Minister Muhammad Ali pledged to offer the utmost relief to the public concerning inflated electricity bills on the following day (Tuesday).
Mr. Ali said, “The consultations have been made to lessen the burden on the power consumers. The recommendations to provide relief to the masses will be presented in the federal cabinet tomorrow.”
The minister emphasized that the decision, aligned with power bills, will be in accordance with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.
Approval for discontinuing the provision of free electricity units to power distribution company (Disco) officers is also anticipated.
Regarding capacity payments, the minister clarified that recommendations will be formulated within two weeks.
In a separate instance today, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Sirajul Haq likened the inflated power bills to “drone attacks.”
