The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against President Putin, alleging him of committing war crimes in Ukraine, a claim strongly denied by the Kremlin.

As a result, there is a potential risk of his arrest when he travels abroad.

What is preventing Putin from international travel?

During this week, he engaged in a virtual meeting with leaders from the BRICS group of emerging economies in South Africa. Rather than being physically present, he utilized a video link connection.

ICC Releases Arrest Warrants for Putin

On March 17 of this year, Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for two individuals. These warrants were related to the situation in Ukraine. The individuals named were Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Ms. Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova.

According to the ICC, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, is allegedly responsible for specific war crimes.

These crimes involve the unlawful deportation of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine. Additionally, he is accused of the unlawful transfer of population (children) from those occupied areas to the Russian Federation.
