ATTOCK: A report by a sessions judge in Attock has revealed the conditions of the cell where former Prime Minister Imran Khan is currently being held. It highlights issues such as the lack of privacy in the washroom. The judge orders to resolve the genuine issues faced by Imran Khan.
The findings were detailed in a jail inspection report authored by Judge Shafqut Ullah Khan on August 15. During the visit, the judge interacted with various inmates of the prison, who reportedly expressed satisfaction with their conditions. However, the situation was different when it came to Imran Khan.
The report mentioned that Imran Khan raised concerns about the CCTV camera and his accessibility within the jail. Particularly, he expressed serious reservations about the CCTV camera placed in front of the prison bars, located at a distance of around 5 to 6 feet. This camera covered the bathroom area, which was shared with a latrine. The design of the bathroom offered very little privacy during bathing or defecating due to the low L-shaped walls that were only two and a half to three feet high.

The judge noted that Imran Khan’s concerns were justified and amounted to a violation of Prison Rules 257 and 771. The superintendent of the jail assured the judge that this issue would be addressed. It has been reported that construction work on a separate washroom within the cell has already commenced.
Additionally, Imran Khan raised complaints about his lawyers and wife not being granted access to him. The superintendent similarly assured the judge that this matter would also be taken care of.
Imran Khan was taken into custody from his residence in Lahore on August 5. He received a five-year disqualification and a three-year prison term in the Toshakhana criminal case.
