What foods should be used for longevity?

Medical experts recommend the use of two parts of fruits and three parts of vegetables in the daily diet to achieve a healthy life and longevity.

The secret to longevity and a healthy life lies in fruits and vegetables, according to medical research published in the American Heart Association’s flagship journal Circulation.

A recent study of 2 million adults found that consuming two portions of fruit and three portions of vegetables in the diet on a daily basis could help prevent a number of serious diseases, including diabetes. Fatal diseases such as heart disease, cholesterol levels, blood pressure levels and cancer are at the top of the list as it also help increase longevity.

Research has also shown that adults are not accustomed to eating vegetables and fruits, with only 10% of the 2 million adults in the study had been consuming the required amount of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

Over 30 years, various studies of 2 million volunteers from 19 countries have shown that people who consume fruits and vegetables on a daily basis are healthier than others. These results were not found to be beneficial in people who consumed more fruits and vegetables than required.

According to the study, volunteers who consumed two portions of fruit and three portions of vegetables in their daily diet reduced 13% of sudden deaths, 12% of heart attacks and strokes, 10% of cancers, and 35% reduction of lung diseases.

Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, fenugreek and other vitamin C-rich vegetables were among the vegetables used by the volunteers during the study, while stress fruits such as lemons, malts, berries and carrots were used.

According to experts, not all fruits and vegetables have the same positive effects on human health. Fruits and vegetables that are high in carbohydrates and starch should also be avoided.
