In Uttar Pradesh, a distressing and discriminatory incident unfolded involving the largest minority in India, the Muslims. An elderly Muslim couple, Abbas and his wife Kamrul Nisha, lost their lives in an attack stemming from their son’s relationship with a Hindu woman.
The incident took place in Sitapur City.
The attack claimed the lives of Abbas and Kamrul Nisha, with all the perpetrators escaping from the scene of the crime. According to Sitapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Chakresh Mishra, a few years prior, Abbas’s son had eloped with a girl from a neighboring household.
A case had been filed in response, resulting in Abbas’s son being incarcerated. However, upon his release from jail, certain family members orchestrated the assault on the couple.
Chakresh Mishra explained, “Villagers reported that the deceased couple’s son, Shaukat, had been involved in a romantic relationship with Rampal’s daughter Ruby.”
“In 2020, Shaukat abducted Ruby, who was a minor at the time. Following the registration of a case, Shaukat was imprisoned by the police. Subsequently, he abducted and married Ruby in June,” added the Police.
