PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Peshawar and received a briefing on the overall security situation in the province, particularly focusing on the Khar suicide blast and the ongoing investigations. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir also accompanied him during the visit. Prime Minister Shehbaz raised concerns about the role of Afghan citizens in suicide blasts. He raised concerns about the hostile elements operating from sanctuaries across the border, orchestrating attacks on innocent civilians.

During the briefing, the Prime Minister received information about the counterterrorism efforts. These efforts aim to dismantle terrorist networks by disrupting their linkages between planners, executioners, and abettors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed concern over the involvement of Afghan citizens in the suicide blasts. He also expressed concern about the freedom of action available to elements hostile to Pakistan, who plan and execute attacks on innocent civilians from sanctuaries across the border. He emphasized that the interim Afghan government must take concrete measures to prevent its soil from being used for terrorism.
The Prime Minister also praised the emergency efforts made by the army in evacuating wounded personnel from Khar to Peshawar.
They visited the wounded personnel undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and inquired about their health. The Prime Minister instructed the authorities to provide the best possible healthcare services to the wounded patients.
He also interacted with the bereaved family members of the victims of the Khar suicide blast. Shehbaz Sharif assured them that the entire nation stood with them in their hour of grief and shared the burden. He reaffirmed that security forces, along with the support of the nation, would ensure that those responsible for such attacks are brought to justice.
