ISLAMABAD: Commercial Counsellor Ghulam Qadir at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing announced that the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has granted approval to sixty more orchards from Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) for exporting cherries to China.
Ghulam Qadir highlighted the significant potential this approval holds for the agricultural sector in Gilgit Baltistan. Where cherry cultivation is a prominent industry.
He emphasized that the endorsement by Chinese customs signifies. That the cherries from Pakistan meet all the required standards and regulations for export to China.
According to Arman Shah, the CEO of Hashwan Group and Arman Shah Farm. Which is the largest farm approved by Chinese Customs. This collaboration between China and Pakistan in promoting agricultural exports, particularly cherries from Gilgit Baltistan. Showcases the mutual benefits derived from such partnerships. The initiative not only boosts economic growth. but also strengthens bilateral ties.

Arman Shah further mentioned that Gilgit Baltistan cherries have already been exported to other countries, with the major market being the Middle East. This year, the price of export ranged between Rs 700-1000 per kg.
The region produces more than 4,000 tons of quality cherries every season, and with cold storage facilities available, exports can continue even after the regular season.
The approval of Pakistani cherry orchards by Chinese customs is a significant step towards enhancing trade relations. Serves as a testament to the quality of produce originating from Gilgit Baltistan.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that 15 cold storage and packing facilities have also been approved by Chinese customs, Further facilitating cherry exports to China.
