Foreign Office denies talks with the TTP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has firmly reiterated its stance of not engaging in talks with individuals or entities involved in terrorist activities within the country, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The Afghan Taliban suggested Pakistan to hold talks with the TTP, but Pakistan’s Foreign Office categorically rejected the proposal.

In response to the Afghan Taliban’s suggestion that Pakistan hold talks with the TTP, the Foreign Office spokesperson stated that their views do not align with Pakistan’s stance. The FO spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s position on this matter has been clearly conveyed to those who suggest such talks, and it will not change in the future.

The country also commented on the ongoing civil war in India’s Manipur region, expressing concern for the safety and security of minorities and their places of worship. Pakistan emphasized the need for the Indian government to ensure the well-being of minorities.

Regarding the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI), Pakistan is making efforts to find a solution while maintaining a neutral position in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari discussed the BSGI issue with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, highlighting its implications for global food inflation.

Another pressing issue for Pakistan is the recurring desecration of the Holy Quran in Europe. The country has called for collective UN action to combat Islamophobia and urged the formulation of a comprehensive strategy and Action Plan.

Pakistan raised these concerns during phone calls with various international leaders, including those from Iran, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the US, the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the European Union.

As another incident of Quran burning occurred in Denmark, Pakistan summoned a senior Danish diplomat to protest the desecration. The Foreign Office spokesperson condemned such acts, stating they insult Muslims worldwide and contribute to friction among communities, cultures, and countries.
