Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the second test by an innings and 222 runs. Spinner Noman Ali showcased an exceptional performance, taking seven wickets on Thursday. With this win, Pakistan completed a series sweep of 2-0.
Sri Lanka’s defeat was a matter of time after conceding a massive lead of 410 runs, and Noman’s left-arm spin proved too challenging for the Sri Lankan batsmen as Pakistan triumphed at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground in just four days.

Angelo Mathews displayed a resilient effort, scoring an unbeaten 63 runs, but Sri Lanka’s batting lineup struggled once again, getting all out for 188 in the second innings after managing only 166 in the first innings. In response, Pakistan batted for two overs on day four, enabling Mohammad Rizwan to reach his half-century before declaring their innings at 576-5.
The highlight of Pakistan’s victory was Abdullah Shafique’s career-best performance, scoring an impressive 201 runs, while Agha Salman also played a crucial role with an unbeaten 132, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s mammoth total. With a commanding lead, Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Noman Ali’s exceptional spin bowling, dismantled Sri Lanka’s batting order, leading to a comprehensive victory for Pakistan in the second Test and securing a 2-0 series sweep over Sri Lanka.
