ISLAMABAD: Pakistan expressed its willingness to facilitate dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, aiming to resolve the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasized the importance of dialogue to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. She highlighted the close relationship between Pakistan and the Russian Federation. And further referring to the recent flurry of visits exchanged between the two countries. The spokesperson expressed hope for a resolution through constructive dialogue and communication.

Regarding Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir’s visit to Iran, she dismissed the notion that someone else was in control of foreign policy decision-making, asserting that civilians played an active role beyond issuing symbolic statements.
The spokesperson affirmed that Islamabad would continue to raise concerns with Afghan authorities. She clarified that developing relations with any country involves understanding foreign policy and conducting multifaceted interactions.
Emphasizing the close relationship between Pakistan and Iran, she mentioned their collaboration in various domains, including economics, politics, connectivity, science and technology, education, culture, and defense and security.
Regarding the Chief of Army Staff’s visit to Iran, she explained that it was in response to an invitation from Iranian defense officials to discuss defense cooperation. The relevant departments in Pakistan have established strong links with their counterparts in Iran.
The spokesperson highlighted that during the visit to Tehran, the Chief of General Staff and military commanders discussed bilateral security and defense concerns. She also mentioned Foreign Secretary Dr. Asad Majeed Khan’s recent extensive talks with Iranian authorities.
pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan and Azad Kashmir Issues
Pakistan will continue to raise issues of concern with Afghan authorities and hopes Afghanistan will adhere to its commitments against terrorism. Responding to remarks by the Indian Minister for External Affairs about Azad Kashmir, she dismissed the notion, stating it has never been and will never be a part of India.
She called for the release of Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other Kashmiri political leaders who demand their right to self-determination and are imprisoned without proper justification.
Tragic Greek Boat Incident
Regarding the Greek boat tragedy victims, she informed that mortal remains of four Pakistanis have arrived in Lahore and Islamabad, with plans for transporting the remaining bodies soon. The Pakistani Mission in Greece is coordinating with Greek authorities for victim identification.
