ISLAMABAD: The Security Division in Islamabad has announced the creation of a new force to ensure the safety of courts and judges. This initiative has led to the establishment of Pakistan’s first Judicial Protection Unit (JPU). Under the supervision of the SSP Security Division, the JPU aims to enhance security measures for judges’ offices, court premises, and residences.
A standard operating procedure (SOP) is developed to strengthen security. Furthermore, the security division has installed over 500 high-tech security cameras in court facilities. The advanced surveillance system of the Safe City Islamabad project integrates these cameras. It enables the direct monitoring of court premises.

Efforts to reinforce security further include a request for the recruitment of 550 personnel. The request has been submitted to the Ministry of Interior. Once the authorities allocate the necessary financial resources, they expect the unit’s performance to improve.
The Islamabad Police formed various units to enhance security prior to the establishment of the JPU. These units include the Diplomatic Protection Unit (DPU), Special Protection Unit (SPU), VVIP Protection Unit, and High-Security Zone Protection Unit (HSZPU). Each unit has specific responsibilities for safeguarding foreign diplomats, Chinese nationals, VVIPs, and high-ranking officials respectively.
The restructuring of the Security Division aims to ensure the safety of foreign embassies, diplomats, national dignitaries, and important offices in the federal capital.
The efforts to enhance security in courts through the JPU will contribute to creating a secure environment for judges. It aims to ensure their safety while performing their crucial duties. The security team installed high-tech security cameras and developed standard operating procedures to reinforce security measures within court premises. These actions demonstrate a strong commitment to fortifying security.
These initiatives underline the significance of preserving law and order, safeguarding national and international dignitaries, and ensuring a secure judiciary environment. Consequently, the capital city becomes safer and more stable.
