ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly criticized the social media campaign regarding an assassination attempt on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir. He emphasized that these activities, which lie outside the boundaries of freedom of expression, are unacceptable.
In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the malicious social media campaign and linked it to the conspirators behind the May 9 arson incident. He instructed relevant authorities to take legal action against those involved, both domestically and internationally. The prime minister vowed to crush any plot against Pakistan by the conspirators involved in the May 9 incident.

PM Shehbaz Sharif described the vicious media campaigns as the work of troublemakers, to destabilize the country politically and economically. Such campaigns against the armed forces and its chief are not freedom of expression but a conspiracy needing firm action.
The prime minister expressed confidence that the nation would thwart these attempts, just as it had successfully prevented violence and vandalism on May 9. He vowed to prevent desperate elements from creating a new crisis in the country.
After that, the prime minister accused the PTI chief of orchestrating a malicious campaign against COAS on Twitter. He claimed the ousted premier’s tactic of using proxies to threaten the Army Chief with an assassination attempt was exposed.
The prime minister stressed unity in countering conspiracies, urging the nation to stand together against those sowing chaos and division. He emphasized that ensuring the security and stability of the country is the government’s full commitment. PM Shehbaz Sharif pledged to safeguard national interests, preserve peace, and ensure harmony, leaving no effort spared.
