Only 1 in 10 Pakistanis own a car, Study

Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, is a survey research and consultancy firm in Pakistan specializing in independent third-party evaluation and ratings.

According to a survey recently conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, only 10% of Pakistanis have a car at their house.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “Do you have a car at your house?”

In response to this question, 10% said ‘Yes’, 88% said ‘No’. 2% did not know or did not respond.

Urban-rural breakdown: 9% more urban respondents claim to have a car at their homes as compared to rural area respondents.

16% from urban areas said that they have a car while 7% from rural areas said that they don’t.

On the other hand, 82% from urban areas said that they do not have a car at their home while 91% from rural areas said so.

The company is attributed to be the founder of the science of polling in Pakistan and brings over 40 years of experience in conducting and analyzing opinion polling in Pakistan.

Gallup Pakistan was established in 1980 by Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani, Ph.D. from MIT in Political Science. Gallup Pakistan had broken the previously held taboo that only Government agencies could do survey work in Pakistan.

During the 1985 elections, Gallup Pakistan conducted its first Exit Poll in the country and got publicity on National and International Media.
