Desecration of the Holy Quran
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has taken up the issue of the desecration of the Holy Quran with the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament.
Sanjrani wrote a letter to Mr. Andreas Norlen, Speaker of the Riksdag Kingdom of Sweden Stockholm today.
Chairman Senate said, “It is with great concern that I write to you regarding the recent incident of desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden. I believe that in such a modern era where we are all interconnected in this global village, there should be no more room or excuse for the abuse and desecration of holy personalities, scriptures, and religious sentiments of any community.”
He said, “I express my sincere gratitude for the swift denouncement of this act by the Swedish government, making it unequivocally clear that such actions do not reflect Swedish state policies and are rightly condemned as Islamophobic.”
The Senate Chairman, however, said that we seem to be far from our goals of ensuring peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony. I represent a nation deeply committed to these principles, and I strongly believe there is much that we as parliamentarians and world leaders can do to prevent such actions that can disturb world peace.

Sajid Sanjrani said that Islam is a complete code of life, that encapsulates profound values of tolerance, peace, prosperity, and love for humanity and human life. The Holy Quran, our sacred book, stands as a timeless guide, strictly discouraging violence and emphasizing the importance of upholding peace.
Furthermore, Islam strictly teaches us to never disrespect other religions, prophets, or holy books. A person is not considered a Muslim until they believe in all the preceding prophets of the existing Abrahamic religions and their holy books.
This is the respect and stature of other religions in Islam, yet frequent Islamophobic incidents prevail and are often swept under the rug in the guise of freedom of expression.
The disrespect towards Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Holy Quran inflict immeasurable pain upon Muslims. It is crucial that this reality is understood and acknowledged, and steps are taken to prevent such acts from occurring through our national and global efforts.
The world needs to grasp the true meaning and message of Islam, as deep reverence and love we hold for our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Holy Quran. The recent be other similar incidents in their holy books.

The recent desecration of the Holy Quran, like other similar incidents in the past, is rooted in a lack of understanding, and misconceptions about religion that must be dispelled. It is incumbent upon all of us to educate ourselves and others, promoting understanding, tolerance, and interfaith harmony.
In this regard, I am writing to you, Excellency, to not only appreciate the Kingdom of Sweden for condemning the burning of a Quran outside Stockholm’s main mosque but to also urge the Riksdag to highlight the significance of interfaith harmony and dispel misconceptions about Islam.
It is incumbent upon us, as representatives of our people, to guide and educate our people, fostering an environment that encourages tolerance, respect, and empathy among different faiths, religions, and communities.
This is not only imperative for national peace, but also for regional and global stability. If you deem fit, I can travel to the Kingdom of Sweden to address the Riksdag and dispel any misconceptions about Islam.
Chairman Senate also said, “I extend my deepest appreciation for your attention to this matter and trust that, in collaboration, we can contribute to a more peaceful and tolerant world.”
