Marriyum Aurangzeb Urges Courts to Treat Imran Khan as an Ordinary Citizen:
On Friday, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, responded to the Supreme Court’s orders regarding the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan. She encouraged the judges to treat Khan like an ordinary person because he thought he was above the law and untouchable.
Marriyum emphasised that Khan’s detention by the National Accountability Bureau was legal and that the allegations of corruption against him had nothing to do with the government.
She added that the current government did not support political retaliation or victimisation.

Marriyum stated:
โIf we wanted to arrest him or silence him โฆ we would not have waited 14 months,โ

In response to a query regarding the disqualification of Imran Khan, the minister said that the government had no interest in doing so and that no democratic government would behave in such a manner.
She did, however, criticise Khan’s prior political acts, including the detention of other political figures and attempts to mute critics.
Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasised that it was every citizen’s constitutional right to scrutinise and debate judicial orders.
The minister clarified in response to another question that during the recent events, there were no peaceful civilians on the streets; rather, there were only armed gangs and terrorists who had harmed state and public property.
