Imran Khan seeks dismissal of over 100 cases against him: LHC takes up a plea on Tuesday
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: PTI chairman has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court, seeking the dismissal of 121 different cases the government has filed against him.
Lahore High Court will take up for hearing the plea of Imran Khan on Tuesday (May 2).
A five-member LHC bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir, and comprising Justice Alia Neelam, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Justice Anwarul Haq, and Justice Amjad Rafique will take up this case on May 2 (Tuesday).
The PTI chairman Imran Khan has stated many times that more than 100 cases have been filed against him.
The petition named the Federation of Pakistan, the province of Punjab, Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment director general, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Punjab caretaker chief minister Mohsin Naqvi, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as respondents.
The petition stated that the purpose of the โfalse accusationsโ was โpatently mala fide, to disqualify, arrest, or convictโ Imran and โeliminate him from the political arena by any means necessaryโ.
Meanwhile, in its petition against Imran Khan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) alleged that Khan failed to disclose gifts he received from the Toshakhana in violation of the law.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Islamabad High Court granted interim bail to Imran Khan till May 3, in inciting mutiny case.
Imran Khan appeared in the IHC on Friday and sought bail in this case.
The court has sent notices to the government to seek reply till May 3 to ascertain whether the court can grant permanent bail to Imran Khan in this case.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan appeared in the Islamabad High Court today to obtain bail in a case against him for inciting mutiny.
The court, after hearing arguments of the lawyer of Imran Khan and the advocate general, granted protective bail to Khan. The court ordered Imran Khan to ensure his appearance in person in his cases in the Islamabad High Court.
