Punjab Police Conducts ‘Grand Operation’ against katcha area:
Punjab police conducted a ‘grand operation’ against robbers and kidnappers in the katcha area of the Indus near the Sindh border.
During the operation, the police killed an alleged gangster and injured six of his accomplices and a policeman.
According to IGP Dr.Usman Anwar – Katcha Area
At the DPO office press conference, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), stated that the police had initiated an ongoing operation based on intelligence due to an increase in kidnap-for-ransom cases this year.
The operation launched early Sunday morning following reports from a leading intelligence agency and Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
Dr. Anwar added that both agencies had been monitoring the activities of criminals in the area and their facilitators.
The police were treating the facilitators based in the riverbed as terrorists and had issued a warning to them against providing shelter to outlaws.

According to sources, the operation began in the Machka and Katcha Karachi areas, where several hideouts of the criminals eliminated.
The IGP and his team came under fire upon reaching Machka.
Also, The IGP stressed the importance of mainstreaming the katcha area dwellers by providing basic amenities such as schools, dispensaries, and roads along the river to prevent the territory’s misuse.
The office of the CTD head is being relocated to Rahim Yar Khan until the operation is completed to maintain law and order in the area.
The IGP emphasized the need for a strict operation to eliminate criminals from the area.

The IGP stated that, in line with the National Security Council’s decisions, all necessary resources would be provided to the police.
The police should establish or restore check posts in the area before the monsoon season.

A press release was issued by the office of the Regional Police Officer of Bahawalpur, Rai Babar Saeed, which identified Mustafa as the individual who was killed during the operation.
The release also stated that 11,000 police personnel participated in Sunday’s operation, including 5,000 personnel from the Punjab Constabulary and 2,000 from Multan, DG Khan, and Bahawalpur police ranges.
Over the past two years, the gangsters have altered their kidnapping strategy, resorting to calling potential victims and enticing them with marriage offers through girls.
This new approach has enabled them to operate throughout Punjab, and in a few cases, they have targeted individuals from Peshawar.
