PM Shehbaz hails reopening of Khunjerab pass after three years

In a press release by the PM Office Media Wing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his pleasure regarding the reopening of Khunjerab Pass.

He stated that it would increase trade between Pakistan and China, and welcomed the step to boost trade with China, Pakistan’s Iron Brother.

Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned that the reopening of the pass had removed a hurdle, which would expedite the work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He added that the restoration of the trade route between the two countries, after three years, was a matter of huge rejoicing.

The prime minister expressed his resolve to move ahead on CPEC with a dual speed in comparison to 2018, stating that it was a gift of progress and prosperity given by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Chinese leadership for the region and people.

He also mentioned that the affection and cooperation from the Chinese leadership for the people of Pakistan were unforgettable.

The prime minister attributed the controversy surrounding CPEC to a foreign-funded individual. He also expressed appreciation for the relevant authorities of both countries and team members for their efforts in restoring trade and travel facilities.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated the leadership of China and Pakistan

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) senior vice president and chief organizer, congratulated the leadership of China and Pakistan on the restoration of the Sino-Pak trade after a three-year hiatus.

She stated that the opening of the Khunjerab Pass is a significant development that would end the hardships faced by people on both sides.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif also lauded the Pakistan-China iron brotherhood and accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of deliberately stalling Pakistan-China trade activities and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo and the architect of CPEC, initiated the project with China’s assistance to promote Pakistan’s development.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif asserted that had the CPEC and Pak-China trade continued at the pace of the Pakistan Muslim League-N era, the people would not be suffering today.
