PM Shehbaz to highlight LDCs’ socioeconomic challenges at the Doha Moot

DOHA/ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would share Pakistan’s perspective regarding the socioeconomic challenges the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are facing in Asia and Africa.

PM Shehbaz said that he would highlight the challenges in his address to the 5th United Nations Conference on the LDCs on Sunday in Doha, Qatar. The two-day conference will conclude on Monday (March 60).

On Sunday, the Prime Minister of Pakistan reached Doha, the capital city of Qatar to attend the UN conference.

The participants of the moot will deliberate upon the steps for pacing up sustainable development in the LDCs.

The Amir of Qatar invited PM Shehbaz to attend the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The Conference will consider steps for accelerating sustainable development in the Least Developed Countries. The aim of the moot is to support the LDCs to make progress on the road to prosperity.

At the Conference, the leaders will mobilize additional international support measures and action in favor of LDCs. They will also agree on a renewed partnership between LDCs and their development partners.

Meanwhile, in Doha, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings and interactions with participating leaders and Heads of Delegation on the sidelines of the Conference.

Pakistan has been playing a leading role in the UN platforms to amplify the collective voice of the Global South to promote sustainable development worldwide.

During 2022, in its capacity as Chair of the Group of 77 and China, Pakistan supported the efforts of the LDC Chair.

Pakistan also supported Qatar in securing the adoption of the Doha Programme of Action for the LDCs by consensus. The UN General Assembly also endorsed the programme.
