Suzuki to Shut Down Production in Pakistan Again

Suzuki to Shut Down Production in Pakistan Again:

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) was obliged to declare yet another round of non-production days (NPDs) in February 2023 due to ongoing operational issues.

The company just announced that it will cease manufacture and assembly from February 20, 2023, to February 21, 2023, citing a lack of inventory caused by import restrictions imposed by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

According to the company, the motorcycle production plant will continue to operate and any changes to the plans will be notified as needed.

For the same reasons, the company has revealed 10 NPDs a month ago and five NPDs earlier this month.

Decline in Market Share

Car sales have declined as a result of recent difficulties in the automobile industry.

According to monthly sales statistics from the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA), Pak Suzuki was the main casualty of this economic crisis.

The company sold 44 Alto devices last month, making it one of the month’s worst sellers. In comparison, the manufacturer sold 3,864 Alto cars in December 2022. Given that the company has been selling around 5,000 Altos every month for the preceding 18 months, this is fairly significant.

Pak Suzuki’s recent run of NPDs harmed sales of all of its vehicles. The Wagon R was the company’s best-selling vehicle in January, with 671 units sold.
