Consular section of Chinese embassy in Pakistan temporarily shut down

The consular section of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad will be temporarily closed from 13 February (Monday) until further notice, due to technical issues.

ISLAMABAD: Due to “technical challenges,” China has declared that the consular division of its embassy in Pakistan will be temporarily closed.

The Chinese embassy has not shared any precise details regarding the nature of the problems or a timeline for the consular section’s reopening.

China’s embassy informed the public of the temporary closure of the consular section in a notification posted on its official website. According to the notification, the shutdown will remain in place until further instructions.

According to the announcement, the “Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad will be temporarily closed from February 13, 2023. Shot down will remain in practice until further notice, due to technological concerns.”

Additionally, due to the security situation, the Chinese government has advised its citizens to be extremely cautious while traveling to Pakistan. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs consulate office issued a warning to its citizens on Saturday. Moreover, they cautioned them that there may be a risk of extreme security in the nation.

They recommended calling on 051-8496167 if anyone requires any assistance with urgent passport and travel document issues. Applicants with more questions should contact [email protected].

The Chinese government’s statement comes a day after the administration reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding all foreign and Pakistani citizens.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah gave the order to take possible steps to ensure the safety of Pakistani and foreign nationals. He gave the orders while presiding over a meeting in Gwadar on February 12. This meeting was about counterterrorism and the security of foreign nationals in the nation.

He stated that Chinese nationals engaged in various projects in Pakistan will enjoy complete security. Moreover, Interior Minister said that they’ll not accept any negligence in this regard.
