IHC decides to form larger bench to hear Tyrian White case

IHC decided to form a larger bench to hear Tyrian White’s plea.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) today decided to form a larger bench to hear Tyrian White’s case. In this case, the petitioner is seeking PTI leader Imran Khan’s disqualification for allegedly concealing his daughter, Tyrian White.

Muhammad Sajid, the petitioner, argued in his plea that earlier PTI chief denied allegations that he has a daughter. But now avoids commenting on the subject “because he knows that there is evidence against him.”

PTI chief’s concealment of the alleged daughter makes him unfit for office. The application seeks the PTI chief’s disqualification by Article 62(i)(f).

Today’s hearing was led by IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq. During the hearing, the court noted that Imran’s main argument was that he no longer held public office.

The petitioner has also challenged Imran’s oath from 2018, as noted by the high court.

The court has requested a copy of the notification identifying Imran. Moreover sought clarification from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the subject. The court also made note of Imran’s legal team’s concerns regarding the bench’s composition.

The chief justice recused himself from hearing a similar petition in 2018, although not for personal reasons.

Despite this, the judge granted the PTI lawyer’s request and resumed hearings of a larger bench for February 9.

In 2018, Petitioner Abdul Wahab Baloch argued that the PTI chairman should be disqualified by Article 62(i)(f) of the Constitution. For providing false information in his nomination papers and adding that he is no longer “Sadiq and Ameen.”

At the time, the petitioner worked for the general election as a member of the Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party. Later on February 2019, he joined the PTI and filed a variety of petitions to withdraw the case.

The petition that sought Imran’s disqualification as prime minister was later ruled inadmissible by the IHC.
