Latif Afridi’s murder suspect remanded into police custody for two days

On Monday afternoon, Ex-SCBA President Latif Afridi was Assassinated In Peshawar High Court Bar Room.

The attacker, Adnan Samiullah Afridi, was reportedly apprehended at the scene and taken to the East Canto­n­ment Police Station, where a case was filed.

According to a police officer on the scene:

The suspect confessed to the murder and stated that he murdered the victim due to a family feud.

Separately, Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Ijaz Khan formed a fact-finding panel, chaired by the SSP investigation, to determine how the attackers were able to smuggle a weapon onto the court grounds.

The committee will submit its report within 24 hours.

Earlier today, the suspect was introduced to Judicial Magistrate Badar Munir. After accepting the police plea, the court remanded Adnan in custody for two days.

Lawyers Announce Nationwide Strike Against Afridi’s Murder

The Punjab Bar Council declared a three-day period of mourning today, while the PHC declared a complete boycott of all courts throughout the province.

Furthermore, lawyers’ groups urged the Sindh High Court (SHC) to adjourn all hearings that were not proceeding.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will, however, hear urgent cases.

Latif Afridi Assassination

Ex-SCBA President Latif Afridi was Assassinated In Peshawar High Court Bar Room.


Afridi was in the Peshawar High Court barroom when unknown armed men opened fire on him indiscriminately, seriously injuring him.

Latif Afridi was taken to the hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

Six bullets were fired at the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, according to preliminary reports.


He was taken to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.


Afridi was a well-respected senior lawyer and fraternity leader.
