Sadpara went missing after summitting K-2

It has been reported that Pakistani mountaineer, Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who successfully submitted K-2 last night (Friday) has gone missing along with his team members. The authorities have failed to establish contact with him as the GPS and signals are not available near the peak. According to the schedule, the mountaineers should have been back from the mountain top to the camp by afternoon.

Since the weather is getting worse near the peak with freezing breezes the survival of the climbers is falling thin. The rescue teams on foot and helicopters have been out on the search operation. So far there has not been any recovery of any of the team members.

The helicopters went as high as 7000 feet and can not go further above given the temperature and weather conditions. Even the search team on foot has not been able to find anyone.

People are praying for the team’s recovery. The renowned adventurist, actor, Fakhr e Alam tweeted praying for Ali Sadpara and the team’s safe return. He also appealed to all to take a moment and pray for them.

It had earlier been reported that Sadpara and his team had successfully summited the 8,611m K2 — the world’s second-highest mountain — late Friday. However, their support teams have since then cautioned that the climbers’ status is still unclear and there has been no communication from their end.

Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland and Juan Pablo from Chile had departed for their journey a day after Sadpara’s birthday in the wee hours of Wednesday.
