Shehbaz Sharif Forms Committee to Resolve Issues in IT Industry
On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a committee to address issues in the IT sector.
While presiding over a meeting on the promotion of the IT industry, the premier stated that the growth of the IT sector can provide a solid foundation for the nation’s economy.
The prime minister stated that the sector requires government assistance and established a committee of business executives to address the sector’s growth challenges.
The committee will also include representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, and other relevant departments.
According to the premier, the goal of increasing IT exports from under $3 billion to $15 billion in three years is certainly attainable.
He asserted that the government would compensate exporters who increased their exports.
The meeting was informed of the problems confronting the IT sector, and solutions were proposed by the representative.
The prime minister authorised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the SBP, and other relevant departments to take the necessary steps.
The prime minister directed that the Higher Education Commission (HEC), universities, and other institutions work to increase the country’s 6 million IT professionals to 15 million.
He also emphasised the importance of ensuring that the IT curriculum meets business requirements.
Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, and Syed Amin Ul Haque, the information technology minister, were also present.
