Nick Carter sued over the alleged 2001 rape of teen

A woman with cerebral palsy who claims that Nick Carter, The Backstreet Boys singer, sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager named him in a civil lawsuit brought against him in the US on Thursday.

Shannon Ruth, now 39, claimed the musician raped her after a concert in 2001 after making her perform oral sex on him on a tour bus.

At a virtual press conference, lawyer Mark Boskovich revealed that Ruth, then 17 years old, was waiting in line for an autograph following a Backstreet Boys concert in Tacoma, Washington when Carter invited her onto the bus.

According to Boskovich, “He gave her a funny-tasting drink he called VIP juice.”

‘Then Carter took her to the bus’s bathroom and told her to get on her knees, and he pulled down his pants and exposed his genitals ordering (her) to perform sexual acts on him,’ She further Added.

Carter persisted despite Ruth’s crying throughout the ordeal—she was a virgin at the time, according to Boskovich.

“Carter escorted her to a bed in the bus’s rear. Despite her protests, he forced her onto the bed and started raping her.

Ruth, who is also autistic, promised to let people know what had happened after the sexual assault.

Carter called her “retarded” and claimed that “no one would ever believe in her,” the attorney claimed, adding that “he grabbed and bruised her arm and screamed at her.”

Ruth, who has given up her right to remain anonymous, as is typical for victims of sexual offences, sobbed openly throughout the 30-minute press conference.

‘Even though I’m autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me,’ She Stated.

The singer, who had success as a member of the Backstreet Boys with songs like “I Want It That Way” and “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” is being sued in a civil case that was filed in Las Vegas and seeks unspecified damages from him.
