Matthew Perry talked about the contribution he and his team made. In his latest memoir, earned over the years from the show.
For almost ten years, the actor portrayed the lovable and goofy Chandler in the well-known sitcom. which made its debut in 1994. Perry earned $22,500 for the pilot episode before going on to earn almost $1 million every week.
Perry gives credit to his co-star David Schwimmer, who, when he could, aided in the upsurge by refraining from requesting more money for himself.
It was a choice that, according to Perry, “turned out to be very profitable.” David could have easily taken as much money as he could, but he chose not to. Although I’d like to think that as a conceited twenty-five-year-old, I would have acted similarly, I’m not sure I would have. I’ll carry it out.
He continued, “But his decision served to give us a tremendous amount of power and it made us look out for each other through what turned out to be a myriad of stressful network negotiations.” We were earning $1 million per episode by season eight, and even more by season ten. We were requested to produce fewer episodes even though we were earning $1,100,040 per episode.
The 53-year-old actor chuckled and continued, “Morons, all of us. David’s generosity and shrewd business judgment were responsible for what we were given. David, I owe you about $30 million. (We remained idiots.)
