Lee Jihan, a 24-year-old South Korean actor-singer, was one of 154 people killed in a deadly Halloween crowd surge in Itaewon, Seoul, on Saturday.
Lee died as a result of the crush in the city’s narrow streets, which injured more than 100 people, according to Billboard, citing the star’s agencies, 935 Entertainment and 9Ato Entertainment.
On Sunday, 935 Entertainment addressed Lee’s tragic death with an image of a plain black square posted in mourning.
“I am heartbroken to share the sad news,” the caption’s translation said, before adding that Lee “has become a star in the sky and left us” following his “sudden death.”

The caption continued, “Actor Lee Jihan was a sweet and warm friend to all.”
“We are sad to deliver such news today, but Lee Jihan died in the crush in Itaewon last night,” 935 Entertainment said in a statement, according to Entertainment Tonight, citing multiple sources.
“We would like to express our deepest condolences to his family, who are saddened by the sudden tragic news, as well as to everyone who loved him,” they added.
Lee rose to prominence after appearing in Season 2 of the reality singing competition series Produce 101 in 2017. According to CNN Philippines, he made his acting debut in the 2019 web drama Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day.
