KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) seized 42 cartons of non-custom paid cigarettes in Karachi on Thursday.
The FBR searched a godown in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood and seized 42 cartons of cigarettes.

According to the FBR raiding team, the recovered cigarettes are worth Rs420,000. An investigation into the matter was ongoing.
Earlier, on January 5, last year, the Sindh Rangers stopped an effort to smuggle a large quantity of illegal products worth millions of rupees as part of an ongoing crackdown on organised smuggling.
According to a spokesman for the paramilitary organisation, the Rangers conducted a raid on the Sindh-Balochistan border and found a large cache of non-customs paid commodities.

The vehicle carrying non-customs paid commodities was on its way from Quetta to Lahore. The vehicle was carrying around Rs7.5 million in contraband Betel Nuts, Tyres, Cigarettes, Automotive motors, bicycle and motorcycle chains, mixed scrap, and other miscellaneous commodities.
Customs officials were given the recovered items.
