Donald Blome, the US ambassador to Pakistan, announced on Thursday an additional $30 million in humanitarian aid for Pakistan’s flood victims.

The announcement was made by Ambassador Blome while he was in the flood-hitย Shikarpur district, where he gave out hygiene kits, emergency shelter, and latrines to those who had been affected by the flooding.
He spoke with flood victims to learn about the flooding’s impact and aware of their needs.
According to a statement issued today by the US Embassy in Islamabad, this new money takes the United States overall support to Pakistan for flood relief, food security, disaster preparedness, and capacity-building activities this year to $97 million.
“The extra financing will enhance efforts to address immediate needs, scaling up aid to the most affected communities, and allowing USAID to reach more than 4 million people,” the statement continued.
With the additional funds,ย the US government, through USAID, offers life-saving food, nutrition, and health support to mitigate increased food insecurity and malnutrition caused by the floods, as well as to combat the spread of diseases caused by stagnant flood waters.
The additional cash will also offer shelter materials to assist families in rebuilding, as well as winterization kits to assist families in preparing for cold weather.
Because natural disasters, such as flooding, disproportionately affect women and girls, the United States is increasing protection support to prevent gender-based violence and assist survivors.
